How We Work
Our work is to serve organizations and educators that share our vision of universal realization of human rights. To embody our values, we are guided by an approach that centers partners, their experiences, and their needs. To define, validate, and evaluate this approach, we ask partners to lead the way.
Beyond the low hanging fruit of providing unrestricted, multi-year grants, our current approach includes the following features:
- Staff is approachable and accessible
- Systems are user-friendly
- Expectations and communications are easy to understand and transparent
- The majority of the “work” of maintaining the relationship is carried out by foundation staff
- Foundation does ongoing, thoughtful listening and feedback collection to genuinely understand how to best serve partners
- Documentation of partner work leverages data and information in its existing form
- Interactions between the foundation and partners feel additive and supportive and do not feel evaluative or heavy-handed
- Regular touch points strengthen bonds, deepen understanding, and provide support without distracting or overstepping
- Wherever possible, seek out opportunities to provide non-monetary support (e.g., introductions to other funders and organizations, sharing or subsidizing use of tools and resources, leveraging the foundation’s platform to raise awareness about partners and their work)
Please note that Woven Foundation is not actively engaging new partners at this time
